Registered Clinical Counsellor (#12112) since 2015

Approved Clinical Supervisor - BC Association of Clinical Counsellors

Heather Scott, RCC-ACS

Hello! I’ve been a Clinical Counsellor since 2015 and have worked in the field of mental health since 2009. I have a masters in Counselling Psychology and I offer trauma-focused therapy for adults 19+, with the bulk of my practice focusing on the experience of self-identified women and non-binary folks.

With me, you can expect a warm and inviting space, as well as an approach that’s gently challenging and sprinkled with humour. We will address your current challenges, explore deeper emotions, beliefs and disruptive patterns, experiment with new coping resources, and increase your sense of connection to yourself, your loved ones, and your community.  My work is guided by feminist and person-centred principles, meaning your resilience and strengths are always at the forefront of therapy.

Personal and professional interests have driven me to complete post-graduate training in evidence-based modalities and approaches including: Trauma-Informed Stabilization Treatment (TIST), Somatic Experiencing, Internal Family Systems (IFS), EMDR and Mindful Self-Compassion. I have specialized training in the treatment of complex trauma and dissociative experience.

As a survivor of complex trauma, I understand what it’s like to think and act like you have it all together yet feel deeply like something is missing.  I’ve experienced the shame and fear that’s associated with reaching out for help. You’re not alone and you don’t have to suffer in silence.  Let’s connect and thrive!

Individual Counselling for Adults

The most common issue we hear about from client’s is that of feeling “stuck” in some way; be it in a relationship, a job, or in a cycle of old patterns and harmful behaviours.  This leaves folks feeling alone and detached, and living with unwelcome suffering.  Counselling offers a safe, nonjudgmental space for you to explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours and take steps towards getting “unstuck”.
